Lenten is the 40-day period beginning Ash Wednesday and culminating Easter Sunday (this year March 5, 2025 through April 20, 2025). It is a time when Christians DRAW CLOSER TO GOD through the practices of PRAYER, FASTING, and GIVING!
During PRAYER, petitions are offered for personal needs, spiritual needs, and special needs for others for their deliverance, healing, salvation, and also for WORLD PEACE! When it comes to FASTING, many discipline themselves by just eating fruit and vegetables, but no meat or no food at all. Others give up sugary food/drinks. Still others give up alcohol consumption, profanity, smoking, or television, to name a few! As far as GIVING is concerned, people take the opportunity to donate to charitable organizations for human needs as well as other benevolent acts to assist the less fortunate. Many churches distribute “gleaners” for members to give a special sacrificial LENTEN offering for various causes.
Sometimes Lent isn’t just about giving up something physical. In addition, it’s about GIVING UP TIME TO THE LORD! Is there a time in your day that you can sacrifice and give special attention to the Lord? Of course, you can! The question is – Will you?!!
Therefore, here is a CHALLENGE to each member, as well as those viewing online and those reading this online, to join in on the Noon Day Prayer Line beginning Ash Wednesday. Thereafter, pray every day at noon wherever you may be. Next, try rising a little earlier on Sunday to attend Sunday school at 8:30 a.m. – in person or virtually! Lastly, schedule permitting, begin participating in one of Christ Temple’s Bible Study sessions during the next 40 days – then watch God work! And, on Resurrection Day, let’s GIVE GOD SOME REAL POWERFUL PRAISE!
