Greetings beloved Sistahs,
As always, I’m elated as we celebrate Women’s History Month. This specified allotment of time, in my opinion is insufficient to acknowledge women for the many contributions that they’ve bestowed upon society as a whole. The world that we inhabit is thriving, and in some cases surviving due to the tenacity, giftedness, selflessness, and patience of women.
Anyone who lives in this world came about through a woman. Additionally, it takes the nurturing, love, guidance and sacrifice of a woman for the individual to grow and claim their place in the world. Even if a biological mother was unable to care for a child, a surrogate was available to take up that responsibility. Orphanages, Teachers, Foster care organizations, and grandmothers, were and are saturated with women who are standing up and taking up the charge to mother. Consider this, women, for every leader, politician, police officer, fireperson, judge, lawyer and President are indebted to a woman.
During the civil rights era, some women marched; others cooked, mailed material, housed people, suffered abuse, and even died for the cause of our freedom. It took all of the women working collectively to bring about the declaration of the Civil Rights Acts in 1964. Whether you are a cafeteria worker, a housekeeper, a nana, the First Lady of the United States or the Vice President of the United States, women you are a force to be reckoned with!
Because we are extremely necessary, I’m asking you to assist me in affirming, respecting, and loving our Sistahs during the month of March. Lets declare this time as a month of kindness! Any act of kindness is impactful to the recipient, and the true beauty of you is exposed. Ladies
YOU ARE SOMEBODY SPECIAL.
In Christ’s Name
First Lady
